Capcom's inaugural game development competition fosters industry-academia collaboration. The Capcom Games Competition aims to revitalize the Japanese video game industry by nurturing student talent and advancing research.
A Collaborative Approach to Game Development
This unique competition invites Japanese university, graduate, and vocational school students (18 years or older) to form teams of up to 20 members. Teams will leverage Capcom's cutting-edge RE ENGINE to develop a game over six months, guided by experienced Capcom developers. This hands-on experience provides invaluable insight into professional game creation. Winning teams receive support for potential commercialization of their projects.
The competition opens for applications on December 9, 2024, and closes on January 17, 2025 (subject to change).
Powering Innovation with RE ENGINE
Capcom's proprietary RE ENGINE (Reach for the Moon Engine), initially developed for Resident Evil 7: Biohazard in 2017, has powered numerous successful titles, including recent Resident Evil installments, Dragon's Dogma 2, Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, and the upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds. This constantly evolving engine ensures high-quality game development.
