A recent update from The Chinese Room sheds light on Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2, spotlighting the vampire hunters. The Information Awareness Bureau (IAB), a covert faction with a shadow budget, operates without government backing. Its agents pursue vampires, dubbed "Hollow Ones," under the guise of "training missions" and "counter-terrorism operations."
In Seattle, Agent Baker leads the bureau with disciplined resolve, committed to eradicating vampires. She diligently probes unusual events and analyzes historical records to uncover ties to the secretive vampire world. Her commanding presence has earned her the moniker "The Hen" among devoted operatives.
These hunters are highly organized, securing their base inside and out. Confronting them solo is daunting, as they work in teams, wield spotlights, and communicate via portable radios. In combat, they use thermic batons to bypass defenses and phosphorous grenades to flush enemies from cover. Their sniper crossbows launch explosive bolts, inflicting severe damage unless swiftly removed.
Despite their strengths, the hunters have vulnerabilities. Weaker than ghouls or vampires, they can be outmaneuvered with specific abilities. For instance, Fire can intercept grenades or bolts mid-air and redirect them. Players can also leverage the Ventru clan’s powers to possess an enemy, turning them against their allies.
Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 is set to release in the first half of 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
