Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2’s Patch 4.0 nerfs are being rolled back after player backlash. A hotfix, 4.1, will launch on October 24th, reversing the most significant balance changes.

Developer Saber Interactive announced the reversal following negative player feedback and review bombing on Steam. The original intent of Patch 4.0 was to increase enemy numbers, but this inadvertently made lower difficulty levels too challenging.

The upcoming hotfix will address this by:

  • Reversing enemy spawn rates: Spawn rates for Extremis enemies will return to pre-Patch 4.0 levels on Minimal, Average, and Substantial difficulties, and will be significantly reduced on Ruthless.
  • Buffing player armor: Armor will receive a 10% increase on Ruthless difficulty.
  • Buffing bots: Bots will deal 30% more damage to bosses.
  • Significantly buffing Bolt weapons: Across the board, Bolt weapons will receive damage increases (see specifics below).

Bolt Weapon Damage Increases (Hotfix 4.1):

  • Auto Bolt Rifle: +20%
  • Bolt Rifle: +10%
  • Heavy Bolt Rifle: +15%
  • Stalker Bolt Rifle: +10%
  • Marksman Bolt Carbine: +10%
  • Instigator Bolt Carbine: +10%
  • Bolt Sniper Rifle: +12.5%
  • Bolt Carbine: +15%
  • Occulus Bolt Carbine: +15%
  • Heavy Bolter: +5% (x2)

Saber Interactive also announced plans to implement Public Test Servers around early 2025 to gather feedback on future balance changes. The developers will continue to monitor player feedback following the release of Patch 4.1 to ensure the "Lethal" difficulty remains appropriately challenging.
