Krafton, the South Korean megacorp, has announced that their new game, inZOI, achieved a remarkable milestone by selling 1 million copies within just one week of its release. This marks the fastest sales milestone ever for a game published by Krafton, showcasing the game's immense popularity right out of the gate.
inZOI, a competitor to The Sims, launched on PC via Steam in Early Access on March 28. It quickly made headlines when players discovered an unintended feature allowing them to run over and kill children in the game. Krafton promptly addressed this issue, labeling it an "unintended bug" and issuing a patch to remove it.
Despite this early controversy, inZOI has garnered a 'very positive' user review rating on Steam. The game also saw a peak of 175,000 concurrent viewers on Twitch, placing it third in the Games category. Remarkably, it ascended to the top spot on Steam’s Global Top Sellers List just 40 minutes after its release.
The in-game user-generated content (UGC) platform, Canvas, also saw significant engagement, with over 1.2 million participants and more than 470,000 pieces of content uploaded on launch day.
IGN’s review of inZOI during its Early Access phase awarded it a 6/10, stating, “inZOI is a visually striking life simulator with plenty of ambition, but not enough depth as of its Early Access launch.”
Krafton attributes inZOI’s success to its strategic promotion and communication efforts before the launch, which helped build trust and momentum. The global showcase and demo build were particularly effective in generating high interest. CEO CH Kim expressed gratitude and excitement about presenting inZOI to players worldwide through Early Access, emphasizing Krafton's commitment to ongoing communication and developing inZOI as a long-term franchise IP.

Looking ahead, Krafton plans to introduce new content through future updates, including mod support and new cities. All updates and DLC will be provided for free until the game's full release. In response to player feedback and reported issues, Krafton has committed to applying quick fixes through hotfixes throughout April. The company acknowledges the scale of inZOI’s global community as a "next-level experience" and admits to undergoing "some trial and error" in finding the optimal means of communication with its players.
