Will Wright, the visionary behind The Sims, unveiled further details about his upcoming AI-powered life simulation game, Proxi, during a recent Twitch livestream. This innovative title, first hinted at in 2018, is finally taking shape under the development banner of Gallium Studio. Learn more about Proxi's unique approach to interactive storytelling.
The livestream, hosted by BreakthroughT1D (a leading organization in Type 1 diabetes research), featured Wright discussing Proxi's core mechanics. The game leverages the power of AI to transform players' personal memories into interactive, animated scenes.
Players input their memories as written text, and Proxi's AI engine converts these narratives into 3D environments. These scenes, called "mems," are customizable using in-game assets, allowing for a highly personalized representation of lived experiences.
Each new "mem" added to the game enhances the game's AI and expands the player's "mind world," a navigable 3D space composed of hexagons. As the mind world grows, it populates with Proxies—digital representations of friends and family—creating a rich, interconnected tapestry of memories.
The innovative timeline feature allows players to arrange and link memories, visually connecting them to specific Proxies and events. Furthermore, these Proxies can even be exported to other game platforms, such as Minecraft and Roblox, expanding the possibilities for creative expression.
Wright emphasized Proxi's focus on creating deeply personal experiences. He highlighted the game's design philosophy: "The more I can make a game about you, the more you'll like it."
Proxi is now featured on Gallium Studio's official website, with platform announcements expected soon.
