The Voodoo Doll offers a potentially favorable risk-reward ratio among Cursed Possessions in Phasmophobia. While game updates have adjusted its effectiveness, it remains a valuable option.

Its primary function is to provoke the ghost into revealing evidence. This is achieved by sequentially inserting pins into the doll. It's particularly useful for evasive or quiet ghosts, prompting actions like EMF5 readings or UV fingerprint displays.

Ten pins can be inserted, each reducing the user's sanity by 5%. Inserting all pins depletes 50% sanity, significantly increasing the risk of a ghost hunt.

However, the most significant risk lies with the heart pin. Pin insertion is random; hitting the heart pin instantly triggers a Cursed Hunt, reducing sanity by 10% and initiating a prolonged (20 seconds longer than usual) ghost hunt near the player's location.

Despite the inherent risks, the Voodoo Doll’s potential for evidence gathering can justify its use, provided you're adequately prepared.

What Are Cursed Objects (Possessions) in Phasmophobia?

Cursed Possessions ("Cursed Objects") are unique items randomly appearing on any Phasmophobia map, influenced by difficulty and Challenge Mode.

Unlike standard equipment that minimizes risk while providing evidence, Cursed Objects offer shortcuts to manipulate the ghost but at increased risk to the player.

The risk varies between objects; using them is entirely optional, with no penalty for avoiding them. Only one Cursed Possession spawns per contract (unless modified in Custom settings).

Seven Cursed Objects exist:

  • Haunted Mirror
  • Voodoo Doll
  • Music Box
  • Tarot Cards
  • Ouija Board
  • Monkey Paw
  • Summoning Circle
