Sega Postpones Sonic Rumble Launch to Introduce Major Update

Despite a vibrant pre-launch event showcasing Super Monkey Ball, Altered Beast, and other Sega icons, Sonic Rumble’s global rollout is on hold for now. The multiplayer battle royale, which amassed over 1.4 million pre-registrations, was set for a grand debut but Sega has decided to pause briefly.

The delay aligns with preparations for update 1.2, set to enrich Dr. Eggman’s toybox universe with additions like Rumble Rankings, Crews, and character Skills. These features aim to elevate gameplay, offering more depth beyond the thrill of victory.

Rumble Rankings will introduce seasonal leaderboards with rewards, while Crews enable collaborative score missions with friends. The new Skills system equips characters with unique abilities, adding strategic depth to battles.

Instead of launching with these updates mid-cycle, Sega chose to delay to ensure quality. Fans can look forward to a Q&A session on Discord on May 2nd to learn more and ask questions.

The delay hasn’t dimmed the game’s hype.
