The inZOI development team has issued an apology for including Denuvo DRM in their game and has committed to removing it. This article details their official statement about this decision and their vision for creating a fully moddable gaming experience.
The inZOI development team has officially confirmed the removal of Denuvo DRM from the game. This decision comes after numerous reports surfaced within the last day indicating that the Creative Studio mode demo included the controversial anti-tamper software. Denuvo has long been a contentious topic in gaming circles, with many players and analysts claiming it negatively impacts game performance.
This digital rights management system is designed to prevent unauthorized copying and distribution of PC games, though it has often been criticized for its restrictive nature.
In a Steam blog post dated March 26, inZOI Director Hyungjun 'Kjun' Kim directly addressed these concerns and confirmed that the upcoming Early Access version, launching this Friday, will ship without any DRM technology. "We initially implemented Denuvo as a protective measure against piracy, believing it would help maintain fairness for legitimate players. However, after carefully evaluating community feedback, we recognized this approach didn't align with our players' expectations," Kjun explained.
The director also apologized for failing to disclose the inclusion of Denuvo in the Creative Studio mode. Kjun acknowledged that while removing DRM might increase piracy risks, it would enable true customization freedom, allowing players to fully personalize their gaming experience. He stated, "We firmly believe this decision will foster greater creativity and long-term enjoyment for our community from the very beginning."
inZOI has emphasized modding support as a core feature, making the initial inclusion of Denuvo particularly confusing for players, as DRM typically restricts mod creation and customization.
Kjun reinforced their position: "As highlighted during our Online Showcase, we're fully committed to making inZOI a highly moddable experience. Our first phase of official mod support will launch in May, enabling players to use professional tools like Maya and Blender for custom content creation. This is just the foundation - we plan to continually expand mod support across all game systems to offer players unprecedented customization options."
The director mentioned that detailed information about modding capabilities will be shared in a dedicated future post. Krafton continues to prioritize player feedback, demonstrating their commitment to adjusting development plans based on community input to ensure optimal gameplay quality.
inZOI enters Early Access on March 28, 2025, for PC, with full releases planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The complete version's launch date remains unannounced at this time.
