CD Projekt Red co-founder Marcin Iwiński confirms the studio has embraced its core strength: "We specialize in AAA open-world RPGs with deep narratives."
During the studio's AnsweRed podcast, Iwiński and joint-CEO Adam Badowski discussed CDPR's evolution, acknowledging past experimentation with other genres while reaffirming their commitment to narrative-driven RPGs.
"Through experience, we've realized absolute focus is crucial," Iwiński emphasized. "Though we're tempted by diverse projects, we must dedicate 100% to what we excel at—this focus defines our success."
Badowski added: "Our shift to multiple projects maintains strategic alignment—every title advances our expertise in immersive open-world RPGs. This specialization remains our competitive edge."
"It sounds straightforward," Iwiński noted, "but growth brings distractions. We continually refocus on our core vision—overextending risks compromising quality."
Badowski continued: "Innovation must serve our established framework. Initial enthusiasm isn't enough—implementation requires disciplined adaptation."
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has achieved staggering success with 60 million copies sold—excluding DLCs—reinforcing CDPR's RPG dominance.
