Valheim is a game that thrives on exploration and survival, challenging players to navigate its diverse biomes and gather resources to confront formidable bosses. The journey can be daunting, particularly in treacherous regions like the Swamp and Mountain, where dangers lurk at every turn. However, amidst these challenges, Valheim offers a respite through its merchants, who provide essential items to ease the harshness of the game world.

At the time of writing, there are three merchants in Valheim, each stationed in different biomes and offering unique goods that can significantly aid your survival. Finding these merchants can be tricky due to the game's procedurally generated landscapes, but their locations and offerings are worth the effort. Here's how to find each merchant and what they have to offer.

How To Find Haldor In Valheim (Black Forest Merchant)

Haldor, the Black Forest merchant, is relatively easier to locate as he spawns within a 1500m radius of the world's center. This proximity makes him one of the first merchants you can encounter. You'll find him in the Black Forest biome, which you can explore early in the game.

Haldor often appears near the spawn area of The Elder, the boss of the Black Forest. You can pinpoint The Elder's location by exploring Burial Chambers and looking for glowing ruins. However, given the vast area, using the Valheim World Generator created by wd40bomber7 can streamline your search. This tool allows you to input your world seed and find exact trader locations.

Once you locate Haldor, remember that he will always appear at the same spot thereafter. It's advisable to build a portal nearby for quick access. Trading with Haldor requires gold, which you can obtain by exploring dungeons and selling items like Rubies, Amber Pearls, and Silver Necklaces.

How To Find Hildir In Valheim (Meadows Merchant)

Hildir, found in the Meadows biome, is more elusive than her brother Haldor. Despite being in the safest biome, she tends to spawn further from the world center, typically between 3000 and 5100m away. Each potential spawn point is approximately 1000m apart, meaning you might need to sail around the world to find her.

The Valheim World Generator can expedite your search, but if you prefer the challenge, keep an eye out for a T-Shirt icon on the map when you're within 300-400m of her location. Once you find Hildir, setting up a portal is a wise move for easy future access.

Hildir specializes in clothing that provides various buffs, with many items offering similar effects, allowing you to choose based on aesthetics without losing the benefit. Additionally, Hildir offers quests that send you on adventures to recover her lost items, leading you to new dungeons in different biomes such as:

  • Smouldering Tombs in The Black Forest
  • Howling Caverns in Mountains
  • Sealed Towers in The Plains

Completing these quests rewards you with chests that unlock new items in Hildir's shop, each with unique effects.

How To Find The Bog Witch In Valheim (Swamp Merchant)

The Bog Witch, the newest addition to Valheim's traders, resides in the challenging Swamp biome. Finding her requires some preparation, as the Swamp is notorious for its dangers. She can be located between 3000m and 8000m from the world center, with potential spawn points 1000m apart.

Using the Valheim World Generator can simplify your search, but if you're up for the challenge, look for her Cauldron icon on the map as you approach. Once found, the Bog Witch will remain in that location, so bring portal-building materials to establish a quick route back.

The Bog Witch is unique among the traders; she's a friendly Greydwarf with a magical Kvastur that maintains her hut and defends against threats. Her hut offers a comfort level of 3, and she provides access to new items for cooking and crafting special meads.
