Hopetown, a nonlinear RPG crafted by Longdue Games, presents a unique narrative-driven gameplay experience. Established by former employees of renowned studios like ZA/UM, Rockstar Games, and Bungie, Longdue Games has unveiled the first glimpse into the game's mechanics, heralding it as a spiritual successor to the acclaimed Disco Elysium. The storyline revolves around a journalist who wakes up in a mining town following a night of heavy drinking. With a throbbing hangover, players must reconstruct the events of the previous night and navigate an escalating local conflict, deciding whether to soothe the tensions or stoke the flames.

Screenshots showcase a dialogue-centric adventure where player choices profoundly influence the narrative. The game features multiple archetypes, each providing distinct dialogue options and approaches to interactions. For instance, engaging with an elderly woman feeding pigeons allows players to choose different conversational tones, which can alter the interaction's outcome.

Longdue Games is gearing up to launch a Kickstarter campaign to finance the project, with a preliminary page already live on the platform. Although a specific release date remains undisclosed, excitement is mounting among enthusiasts of narrative-focused RPGs.

Interestingly, Hopetown is not the only game inspired by Disco Elysium. Two other studios, Dark Math Games and Summer Eternal, are also developing their own psychological RPGs, adding to the genre's rich landscape.
