Ubisoft has announced another delay for the highly anticipated Assassin's Creed Shadows, pushing the release date back to March 20, 2025. Initially slated for a February 14th release, this latest postponement aims to integrate player feedback and further refine the game's overall quality.
The game's initial delay, from November 15th, 2024 to February 14th, 2025, was attributed to development challenges focused on historical accuracy. This second delay, however, directly addresses fan feedback. Marc-Alexis Coté, Vice President and Executive Producer of the Assassin's Creed franchise, emphasized Ubisoft's commitment to delivering a superior player experience through ongoing communication and collaboration. Both delays, according to Coté, provide crucial additional time for polishing and refinement.
Revised Release Date:
The September delay resulted in pre-order refunds and the offer of a free expansion pass for future pre-orders. While Ubisoft hasn't yet announced similar compensation for this shorter delay, the impact is expected to be less significant than the previous three-month postponement.
This latest delay might also be connected to Ubisoft's internal investigation into its development practices, launched to enhance player focus and address recent financial setbacks. Prioritizing player feedback through this delay aligns with the investigation's goals of creating more "player-centric" games.
