Shift Up, the developer behind Stellar Blade, has announced a record-breaking year, with the game generating $43 million in royalties. The studio's 2024 financial report shows a total revenue of $151.4 million, a 30.4% year-over-year increase. This success is largely attributed to Stellar Blade's strong performance, and the company anticipates even greater success with the upcoming PC release, projecting sales exceeding those of the PlayStation 5 version, particularly within the Asian market.
While Shift Up is currently focused on the PC launch of Stellar Blade, they also plan to unveil their new title, Project Witches, in the first half of 2025. Although Project Witches isn't a Stellar Blade sequel, Shift Up has confirmed that they are exploring the possibility of developing another game within the Stellar Blade franchise. This consideration follows the PS5 release's impressive sales figures, surpassing one million copies sold.
Stellar Blade, a fast-paced action RPG, puts players in the role of Eve as she fights to reclaim Earth from mysterious invaders. While IGN awarded the game a 7/10, praising its core action gameplay, the review also noted that underdeveloped characters, a weak narrative, and frustrating RPG mechanics prevented it from reaching the top tier of the genre.
