Ryan Gosling's forthcoming sci-fi adventure Project Hail Mary won't hit theaters until 2026, yet the film has already achieved remarkable success by shattering an impressive pre-release record.

A Record-Breaking Trailer

Director Phil Lord announced this week that the film's trailer has surpassed 400 million views, making it the most-watched trailer ever for an original film (not based on existing IP) within its first week online.

Lord enthusiastically shared the news on social media: "Unbelievable! Anticipation Builds for Comic-Con Reveal

The filmmaker hinted at upcoming surprises: "Can't wait to meet some of you at San Diego Comic-Con's Hall H alongside Ryan, Andy, Drew...and a few unexpected guests..." Lord will join Gosling, co-director Chris Miller, novelist Andy Weir, and screenwriter Drew Goddard at the event. Further details remain under wraps until the convention.

Following The Martian's Success

This marks the second adaptation of Weir's work, following 20th Century Fox's 2015 hit The Martian starring Matt Damon. That film earned $630 million globally, making Amazon MGM Studios' investment in this new adaptation understandable - especially given its early viral success.

The stellar cast also includes Sandra Hüller, Lionel Boyce, Ken Leung, and Milana Vayntrub. Audiences can experience Project Hail Mary when it launches worldwide on March 20, 2026.
