SoMoGa Inc. has released a modernized version of Vay for Android, iOS, and Steam. Vay, a classic 16-bit RPG, returns with enhanced graphics, a redesigned interface, and controller support.
Originally launched in Japan in 1993 on the Sega CD (developed by Hertz and localized for the US by Working Designs), Vay received an iOS re-release in 2008 courtesy of SoMoGa. This latest iteration breathes new life into the title.
What's New in the Revamped Vay?
This updated Vay boasts over 100 enemies, a dozen challenging bosses, and exploration across 90 diverse areas. A notable addition is the adjustable difficulty setting. The inclusion of auto-saving and Bluetooth controller support enhances gameplay. Players can acquire new equipment and spells as characters level up, and an AI system allows for autonomous character combat.
The Story:
Set in a distant galaxy scarred by a millennia-long interstellar war, Vay unfolds on a technologically underdeveloped planet after a catastrophic machine crash-lands. This self-destructing machine, its guidance system malfunctioning, wreaks havoc.
Players embark on a quest to rescue their abducted wife, a mission that could potentially save the world. The peaceful kingdom is attacked on the wedding day, leading the protagonist on an epic journey to thwart the war machines.
Vay's narrative is captivating, blending classic JRPG elements (experience and gold gained through random encounters) with modern enhancements. The game features almost ten minutes of animated cutscenes with both English and Japanese audio options.
Vay revamped is available now on the Google Play Store for $5.99. See our other news for more updates, including the Loving Reveries update in Tears of Themis.
