After nearly a decade of service, Fantasy War Tactics R has announced its End of Service (EOS). That's right—the turn-based tactical battles, grid-based movement, and strategic team-building are all coming to a close. It's disappointing news, as longtime fans will surely understand.
The game first launched in November 2015, developed by Nexon GT and published by Nexon. Its operation later shifted to Valofe in a controversial transfer during its second season. Since that handover, many dedicated players felt the game's original spirit gradually diminished.
The servers will officially shut down on July 29, 2025, at 10:00 AM KST. This final closure will be preceded by several concluding updates for the game.
All in-app purchases will be disabled starting June 24, 2025, at 08:00 AM KST. Players can still use any remaining in-game currency for purchases until the servers go offline.
For those who purchased the Premium Level Up Package but haven't collected all its rewards, a final Premium Set Reward will be distributed after the next maintenance period.
A Farewell Event will also be held from June 24 until July 29. You can find the game on the Google Play Store—perhaps it's time for one final visit.
Fantasy War Tactics R launched globally across 154 countries, offering a distinctive approach to mobile SRPGs. It featured 12 expansive regions, 180 dungeons, and a roster of over 50 heroes.
Its combat incorporated directional positioning and rock-paper-scissors mechanics. A standout feature was the ability to obtain most heroes through gene farming rather than relying solely on gacha summons.
After the transition to Valofe, the game underwent noticeable changes. Balance adjustments became less predictable, updates grew less frequent, and active communication with the community dwindled.
Given these circumstances, the EOS announcement seems almost inevitable. Feel free to share your memories and thoughts on the game in the comments below.
