Player First Games announced the imminent closure of MultiVersus, its Warner Bros. platform fighter. Season 5, launching February 4th, 2025, will be the game's last, concluding on May 30th, 2025, at 9 a.m. PST. This announcement, detailed in a blog post on their website, signifies the end of online support for the title.
Despite the shutdown, Player First Games assures players that all earned and purchased content will remain accessible offline via local and training modes. A heartfelt message from the development team expressed gratitude for the community's support.

Real-money transactions have ceased, but Gleamium and character tokens can still be used to acquire in-game content until the May 30th deadline. The game will be delisted from the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Steam, and Epic Games Store concurrently.
MultiVersus' closure follows reports of its underperformance and a significant $100 million writedown for Warner Bros. Discovery's games sector, contributing to a larger $300 million loss. This financial setback, coupled with the underperformance of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and the recent departure of Warner Bros. Games head David Haddad, paints a challenging picture for the company's gaming division.
CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels highlighted MultiVersus' poor performance as a key factor in the company's financial call in November.
Despite the unfortunate news, Season 5 promises a final hurrah. Alongside typical seasonal content, new playable characters Lola Bunny (unlockable via daily calendar rewards) and Aquaman (available through the battle pass) will be introduced next week.
