Longvinter, the PC's Answer to Animal Crossing, Leaves Early Access on Steam

Longvinter, after a three-year journey through early access on Steam, has officially launched version 1.0! This release incorporates extensive player feedback and bug fixes, delivering a revitalized experience for both veterans and newcomers.

This major update introduces a significant gameplay element: oil rigs scattered throughout the archipelago. Players can now extract crude oil, refine it into fuel, and engage in intense battles against LRI mercenaries guarding vital supply lines. Adding to the dynamic gameplay are new events, including helicopter crashes yielding valuable tactical gear, and an underground arena offering hourly combat for lucrative rewards.

The game world is significantly enriched with the addition of new wildlife – lynxes, wolves, wolverines, foxes, moose, and goats – all tamable and usable as mounts. A plethora of new items are also included, ranging from stat-boosting hats and combat vests to an array of weapons, explosives, new kitchen recipes, and interactive building/decorating objects such as oil refineries, refrigerators, microwaves, power poles, and turrets. Weapon balance has also undergone substantial adjustments.

Future plans include the 1.1 update, bringing farming mechanics, a revised tutorial, apartment rentals, and shared community features. Furthermore, Longvinter's console debut on PlayStation is confirmed for 2026, expanding the game's accessibility beyond the PC platform.
