Hyper Light Breaker: Farming Golden Rations – A Guide to the Rarest Resource

Hyper Light Breaker features several resources, with Golden Rations being the most valuable. These are crucial for essential upgrades, but the game offers little guidance on acquiring them. This guide clarifies how to reliably obtain Golden Rations.

Where to Find Golden Rations

Golden Rations are primarily obtained through two methods: exploration and cycle resets.

  • Chest Exploration: Throughout your runs, explore for chest icons on the map. These often contain resources, and some chests contain Golden Rations (indicated by the Golden Ration icon above the chest). Areas containing Prisms (golden diamond icons) frequently have nearby Golden Ration chests.

  • Cycle Resets: A cycle represents a single Overgrowth playthrough, ending when your revives deplete. Upon death, you can retry the map (losing some resources) or reset the cycle at the Cursed Outpost. Successful cycle resets award points; achieving sufficient points to rank up grants Golden Rations.

What are Golden Rations Used For?

Golden Rations are essential for progression in Hyper Light Breaker.

  • Home Base Upgrades: Spend Golden Rations to unlock permanent character upgrades and new vendor services at your home base.

  • Sycom Unlocking: Unlock Sycoms, which define your Breaker's stats and passive abilities, significantly impacting gameplay style.

Prioritization: Upon obtaining your first Golden Ration, prioritize purchasing the extra medkit upgrade from Pherus Bit. This significantly improves survivability, mitigating the game's punishing combat system.

Resource Retention: While death results in weapon, amp, and perk degradation, any collected resources, including Golden Rations, are retained.
