Guild Wars 2's upcoming Janthir Wilds expansion will include the highly anticipated Homesteads feature, offering players a unique and customizable housing experience unlike any other in MMORPGs. A sneak peek reveals over 300 placeable decorations at launch, with plans for 800+ by the expansion's end.
This instanced player housing system eliminates the competition and limitations often found in other MMOs. Players unlock Homesteads early in the Janthir Wilds storyline, receiving a personal, private instance free from auctions or evictions. Complete freedom of placement is offered, allowing for creative arrangements with full X, Y, and Z axis control.
Decorations will be acquired through crafting, in-game events, and the cash shop. Players can proudly display their favorite cosmetic items, including outfits and rare mount skins. Alts logged out within the Homestead will remain visible and even receive a rest buff. ArenaNet's claim of creating the "most player-friendly housing system in an MMORPG" seems increasingly accurate based on this initial preview. The feature launches alongside Janthir Wilds on August 20th.
