Freedom Wars Remastered: A Deep Dive into Weapon Types

Freedom Wars Remastered allows players to equip two weapons of their choice for each Operation. With six unique weapon types available, players can tailor their character to any preferred playstyle. The three melee and three ranged weapon types offer diverse combat options, all fully customizable. Let's explore each weapon type's strengths:

Weapon Types in Freedom Wars Remastered

New weapons are acquired through completing operations or purchasing from Zakka in The Warren. While Comrade weapon choices are fixed, players have complete freedom to equip and change their own weapons and Accessory weapons at any time, with no penalties for frequent switching.

Weapon Type Traits
Light Melee Quick attacks, ideal for fast-paced combat against single targets. Can sever Abductor limbs without a Flare Knife.
Heavy Melee Wide-sweeping attacks inflicting high damage. Well-timed attacks can hit multiple Abductor limbs for multiplied damage. Charged attacks launch the player into the air. Slightly reduces movement speed.
Polearm Attacks involve charging through enemies, providing mobility and evasion. Charged attacks launch the polearm for substantial ranged damage.
Assault Weapons High ammo capacity, perfect for gun-focused builds. Can be fired while grappled with your Thorne for advantageous positioning.
Portable Artillery High single-shot damage but low ammo capacity. Explosive area-of-effect shots can hit multiple limbs for increased damage. Reduces movement speed.
Autocannons High rate of fire with large ammo capacity and magazine size. Individual shots have lower damage, compensated by the rapid firing rate. Reduces movement speed.

Note: Unlike the player character, your Accessory doesn't consume ammo when using ranged weapons.
