Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 development well underway - game director

Game director Hamaguchi recently provided an update on the highly anticipated sequel, urging fans to exercise patience as new details will be revealed at a later date. The team is diligently working on the project, he confirmed.

Hamaguchi highlighted the success of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth in 2024, citing its numerous awards and global player engagement. This success fuels the team's ambition to broaden the FFVII fanbase with the third game, promising unique challenges for players.

Interestingly, Hamaguchi also mentioned being impressed by Grand Theft Auto VI this year, expressing empathy for the Rockstar Games team and acknowledging the immense pressure they face following GTA V's phenomenal success.

Specific details regarding the third installment remain under wraps, though Hamaguchi offered reassurance that development is progressing smoothly. He acknowledged the recent release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, less than a year ago, but emphasized that players can expect a truly unique experience in the upcoming title.

While the May 2024 launch of Final Fantasy XVI fell short of initial sales projections, specific figures remain undisclosed. Similarly, sales data for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, which also underperformed expectations, has not been publicly released. Square Enix, however, maintains that neither game's sales constitute a complete failure, and that Final Fantasy XVI still has ample time (within its 18-month window) to meet its sales targets.
