In a surprising turn of events, early gameplay footage of the highly anticipated next installment of the Fable series was unveiled during the Official Xbox Podcast. This unexpected reveal gave fans a glimpse into the game's world, showcasing various locations, the combat system, different types of enemies, and even a snippet of a cutscene. Notably, the iconic chicken kick made a return, much to the delight of long-time Fable enthusiasts.

Prior to this reveal, the head of Xbox Game Studios had announced a delay for Fable, pushing its release from 2025 to 2026. The delay was attributed to the need for additional polish and refinement, a common reason in game development to ensure the best possible experience for players.

The reboot of this beloved series was first announced on July 23, 2020, but since then, details about the game have been scarce. It wasn't until three years later that it became evident Fable was still in the early stages of development. The main developer, Playground Games, sought assistance from Eidos Montreal, indicating the project's complexity and the challenges faced in bringing the game to life. The absence of polished gameplay footage for an extended period further highlighted the significant issues the development team was grappling with.
