Eleven years after its initial release, Far Cry 4 now operates at 60 frames per second on PlayStation 5.

As reported by gael_74 in the Far Cry 4 subreddit, the game’s update history confirms that Version 1.08 introduced "support for 60 FPS on PS5 consoles."

If you haven't experienced it yet, now is an excellent opportunity to dive into Far Cry 4. With one of the franchise's most compelling villains, Pagan Min, the game immerses you in a vibrant open world set in the Himalayas. This vertical landscape isn't just a scenic backdrop—it’s a dynamic arena that motivates players to fight, hunt, and explore.

We noted in IGN’s "great" 8.5/10 Far Cry 4 review that "Far Cry 4 may have weaker character development, yet its campaign, co-op, and competitive multiplayer offer remarkable freedom and fun."

Far Cry 4 joins a growing list of PS4-era Ubisoft titles that have received performance upgrades in recent years, including Assassin's Creed Syndicate and Assassin's Creed Origins. Unsurprisingly, this has sparked enthusiasm among Far Cry fans on Reddit, who eagerly hope that other beloved entries like Far Cry Primal and Far Cry 3 will also receive 60 fps enhancements.

Unfortunately, the update arrived a bit late for some players. One user lamented, "You're kidding—I just earned the platinum trophy for this game three days ago."

Last month, Ubisoft formed a subsidiary dedicated to its Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six brands, backed by a €1.16 billion (approximately $1.25 billion) investment from the Chinese conglomerate Tencent.

This development followed Ubisoft’s announcement that Assassin's Creed Shadows had surpassed three million players. Leading up to Shadows’ launch, Ubisoft faced high-profile flops, layoffs, studio closures, and game cancellations. With the company’s stock value hitting a record low, there is intense pressure for the title to succeed.

Earlier today, Ubisoft also quietly introduced Steam Achievements for the 12-year-old title Splinter Cell: Blacklist.
