You'll first meet Rompopolo in Chapter 2, during Mission 2-1: Toward Fervent Fields, within the Oilwell Basin. Defeating it is key to progressing your journey to Azuz City. After your first victory, its entry will be added to your Large Monster Field Guide. You can revisit this battle as often as you like, either by exploring the Oilwell Basin or tackling the "Oilwell Basin Blast" Optional Quest.
How to Beat and Capture Rompopolo in Monster Hunter Wilds
For optimal preparation, equip water-element weapons (obtained from Uth Duna in the Scarlet Forest earlier in the game) and gear with fire resistance (also farmable from Uth Duna or, later, Ajarakan).
