Hanafuda Koi-Koi is a traditional Japanese card game, also known as Koi-Koi. This popular two-player game utilizes Hanafuda cards (Japanese playing cards). The objective is to outpace your opponent in creating specific card combinations called "yaku." The term "koi-koi," meaning "come on" in Japanese, signals a player's desire to continue the round for potential additional points.

Players accumulate cards in a point pile by matching cards from their hand or the draw pile with those already on the table. Once a "yaku" is achieved, a player can choose to stop and collect points or continue playing ("koi-koi") to build more "yaku" and earn a higher score. While individual card point values don't directly affect the final score, they aid in determining their usefulness in forming "yaku."
