Pokemon Sleep's Development Transitioned to Pokémon Works

Select Button, the original developer of Pokémon Sleep, is transferring development responsibilities to Pokémon Works, a newly established Pokémon subsidiary. This article details this significant shift.

From Select Button to Pokémon Works: A New Chapter for Pokémon Sleep

Launched in March, Pokémon Works, a subsidiary of The Pokémon Company, has now assumed development of Pokémon Sleep. This marks a transition from Select Button, the mobile game developer previously managing the app.

An in-app announcement (translated) revealed that Pokémon Sleep's development and operation will gradually move from Select Button to Pokémon Works. While the announcement appeared in the Japanese version, its global rollout remains unconfirmed.

Pokémon Works' portfolio remains relatively unknown. However, according to Representative Director Takuya Iwasaki, the company is a collaborative venture between The Pokémon Company and Iruka Co., Ltd. Furthermore, it's situated in Shinjuku, Tokyo, near ILCA, the studio behind Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and a collaborator on Pokémon HOME, a project to which Pokémon Works also contributed.

While their past Pokémon-related projects are limited, Pokémon Works aims to "create an experience that makes Pokémon more real... so that everyone can enjoy meeting and adventuring with Pokémon." The specifics of how this vision will shape Pokémon Sleep’s future are yet to be unveiled.
