Palworld Switch Port Faces Technical Hurdles, Future Platforms Under Consideration
While a Nintendo Switch version of Palworld isn't entirely off the table, Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe has voiced concerns regarding significant technical challenges in porting the game.
In a recent interview, Mizobe discussed the hurdles involved in bringing Palworld to the Switch, citing the game's demanding PC specifications as a major factor. While discussions are ongoing about potential new platforms, no concrete announcements have been made regarding future releases on Switch, PlayStation, or mobile. Earlier statements confirmed explorations into expanding Palworld's availability to additional platforms. However, Pocketpair has not engaged in buyout negotiations with Microsoft.
Beyond platform considerations, Mizobe shared his vision for enhancing Palworld's multiplayer aspects. An upcoming arena mode, described as an experiment, lays the groundwork for more extensive PvP experiences. His goal is to incorporate elements reminiscent of popular survival games like Ark and Rust, emphasizing competitive gameplay and player interaction within a challenging environment. Ark and Rust are known for their complex survival mechanics, resource management, and player-driven alliances and conflicts.
Since its launch, Palworld, a creature-collecting and survival shooter, has achieved remarkable success, selling 15 million copies on PC within its first month and attracting 10 million players on Xbox Game Pass. A major update, the free Sakurajima update, is scheduled for release, introducing a new island and the highly anticipated PvP arena.
