Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 5 star Ned Luke fuels anticipation for GTA 6, predicting blockbuster sales and assuring fans the wait will be worthwhile. Discover his insights and more about the game's development below.
Ned Luke, the voice behind Michael De Santa in GTA 5, boldly predicts GTA 6 will generate a staggering $1.3 billion on its initial release day. In a recent interview with Fall Damage on YouTube, Luke expressed his confidence in the game's success, emphasizing Rockstar Games' knack for the unexpected.
Luke reassured fans, stating, "Be patient. It's going to be worth the wait. From what I've seen, it's going to be amazing." He highlighted GTA 5's impressive $800 million opening-day haul in 2013, suggesting GTA 6 will significantly surpass this achievement.
Market research firm DFC Intelligence corroborates this optimism, projecting over 40 million GTA 6 sales and $3.2 billion in first-year revenue, with a billion dollars attributed to pre-orders alone.
Luke also offered insights into the potential reappearance of GTA 5 characters in GTA Online and, possibly, GTA 6. He noted Michael's absence from GTA Online since its launch, contrasting with the appearances of Trevor and Franklin.
Luke hinted at Michael's possible inclusion in a speculated final GTA Online DLC or even a direct role in GTA 6. While Steven Ogg (Trevor in GTA 5) previously suggested Trevor's death as a narrative device, Luke remained coy, stating, "Maybe [Michael, Franklin, and Trevor will be] in GTA 6, like [its online mode]. Maybe. Maybe not. You know Rockstar is not going to tell you anything. And if we say anything, you know they will not be very happy." Despite the actors' enthusiasm, official confirmation remains elusive.
Former Rockstar Games animator Mike York suggests GTA 6 is likely undergoing internal testing. In a since-deleted interview with YouTuber Kiwi Talkz (via GamesRadar), York highlighted the game's unique unpredictability, stating, "There are a lot of things that can happen that you don't really think about until some random kid in his basement tries it, you know? You really don't."
York believes the game is in its internal testing phase, adding, "They're probably still putting in a little work and throwing in little extras," suggesting a playable build exists and has likely undergone extensive internal testing.
Following a December 2023 trailer reveal, Rockstar Games has remained tight-lipped about GTA 6. While Take-Two Interactive's 2024 financial report hinted at a Fall 2025 release, no official date has been confirmed.
