Rumors are swirling that Bethesda is poised to announce a remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion in the coming weeks, with a release potentially following soon after. Reliable leaker NatetheHate, who accurately predicted the Nintendo Switch 2 announcement date, suggests a reveal in either March or April. While the release date remains less certain, estimates range from April to before June, according to various sources including VGC.

Early details, seemingly leaked by a former Virtuos employee and reported by Mp1st, suggest the remake utilizes Unreal Engine 5, hinting at a substantial overhaul rather than a simple remaster. Alleged gameplay changes include adjustments to Stamina, Sneak, Blocking, Archery, Hit Reactions, and the HUD. For instance, Blocking mechanics have reportedly been redesigned for a more modern feel, inspired by action and Soulslike games.

The possibility of an Oblivion remaster was first hinted at in 2023, when documents from the FTC vs. Microsoft trial revealed a list of unannounced Bethesda games. This list, compiled in 2020, included an Oblivion remaster slated for fiscal year 2022.
