Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana cleverly introduces bosses, teaching players to master its mechanics through progressive challenges. While not excessively long, the game offers a satisfying roster of formidable opponents.

Initially, players might need some guidance, but Gyalva, the Lord of the Blazing Prison, presents a true test of combat skill, ability usage, and overall game mastery. This boss fight awaits those who have already gained a strong understanding of the game's systems.

How to Beat Gyalva in Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana

  • Boss Location: Zone of Lava, the Escapeless Abyss
  • Boss Health: 1200 (Normal Difficulty)

Following the defeat of Guilen, the Fire Eater, players progress through the Zone of Lava to encounter Gyalva. The key to victory lies in strategic positioning at either end of the unstable bridge.

This fight significantly restricts movement. The bridge platforms are constantly disrupted by Gyalva's attacks. The strategy involves repeatedly jumping to engage Gyalva, utilizing wind magic for quick, burst damage.

The Ys franchise consistently ranks among Nihon Falcom's best, and conquering its challenging bosses provides a deeply rewarding experience.

Gyalva’s List of Attacks in Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana

While a remake of Ys III, and part of the overarching Ys storyline, Gyalva is a unique boss not present in the original game. This formidable foe possesses a diverse arsenal, and although the fight's core mechanics are relatively straightforward, Gyalva can inflict substantial damage quickly. Gyalva’s attacks involve flying across the bridge, often launching sections into the air with fiery assaults.

It's highly recommended to significantly upgrade Adol before this encounter. Aim for at least level 21. This level should be achievable through consistent combat against smaller enemies throughout the game.

Spinning Attacks

Gyalva employs two variations of spinning attacks. The first involves a partial bridge traversal, sending impacted platforms airborne. The second is a full-bridge sweep, causing all platforms to flip. Both attacks can severely deplete health if the player is under-leveled.

To avoid the first attack, quickly move to either side of the affected area. For the second, the only safe position is on either ledge at the bridge's ends. Staying close to one side ensures a safe retreat to the edge.

Avoid the very edge of the bridge to prevent being cornered. Instead, strategically maneuver to attack Gyalva before retreating to the nearest ledge.

Fire Blast

Gyalva unleashes fireballs onto the bridge, launching platforms into the air. While this attack inflicts damage, it also presents an opportunity to land several hits on Gyalva.

Bursting Torches

Torches along the bridge periodically erupt in flames, accompanied by a fireball traveling between them. This attack causes damage, and its timing is somewhat unpredictable. However, once a burst concludes, the area becomes safe to traverse.
