Halo: The Master Chief Collection is rumored to be making its way to the PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2, according to a well-known industry insider. This same source also hints that another major Xbox franchise will soon be available on multiple platforms.
Microsoft began its initiative to bring first-party games to other consoles in February 2024. The first titles to go multi-platform were Pentiment, Hi-Fi Rush, Grounded, and Sea of Thieves, followed by As Dusk Falls, which, although not developed by a Microsoft subsidiary, was published by Xbox Game Studios and was an Xbox exclusive for 20 months. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 expanded to non-Xbox platforms in October 2024, with Indiana Jones and the Great Circle set to follow on the PS5 in spring 2025.
According to NateTheHate, a long-time leaker, Halo: The Master Chief Collection is set to be ported to both the PS5 and the Switch 2. This six-game bundle is expected to launch on these platforms in 2025.
NateTheHate also mentioned that Microsoft Flight Simulator is likely to become multi-platform. Although he didn't specify which version, it's likely he meant the latest, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, released on November 19. Like Halo, this franchise is expected to expand to PlayStation and Nintendo consoles in 2025.
This information was supported by another Microsoft leaker, Jez Corden, who tweeted that "way more" Xbox games will be available on the PS5 and Switch 2. Corden believes the era of Xbox console exclusives is over, a view he has expressed multiple times recently.
The Call of Duty series is also expected to expand to more platforms soon. Microsoft committed to bringing Call of Duty games to Nintendo consoles for ten years as part of the Activision Blizzard acquisition deal announced in late 2022. Although no Switch games have been released yet, this could be due to Microsoft waiting for the more powerful Switch 2, which is better suited for modern military shooters.
