Baldur's Gate 3, released a year and a half ago, continues to captivate players with its rich gameplay and compelling story, leading many to multiple playthroughs. With Larian Studios stepping away from the series, Hasbro now holds the reins of the beloved franchise's future. Fortunately, we won't have to wait long for news.

Hasbro's SVP of digital games, Dan Ayoub, recently revealed to IGN at the Game Developers Conference that they have significant interest in the Baldur's Gate franchise, actively developing plans for its future. He hinted at upcoming announcements, stating, "in pretty short order, we're going to have some stuff to talk about around that."

While Ayoub remained tight-lipped on specifics—whether this involves a Baldur's Gate 4 or a different approach, such as another crossover event similar to the Magic: The Gathering collaboration—he confirmed the desire for a Baldur's Gate 4, acknowledging the significant undertaking such a project represents. He emphasized a measured approach, stating, "we're not in a hurry," and highlighting the numerous possibilities under consideration.

Ayoub also acknowledged the immense pressure to deliver a high-quality successor, a pressure that extends to other Dungeons & Dragons-related projects under Hasbro's umbrella, including a previously announced game. He expressed confidence in rising to the challenge, stating that the high bar encourages creative innovation and pushes development teams to exceed expectations.

Ayoub's comments covered various topics, including Magic: The Gathering, the partnership with Saber Interactive, and Hasbro's broader game strategy. A full interview will be available next week.
