Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2: No DRM, No Microtransactions, and More!
Good news for players anticipating Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2! Developer Saber Interactive has confirmed the game will launch without any DRM (Digital Rights Management) software. This means no Denuvo or similar anti-piracy measures will hinder your gaming experience.
A Clean Launch: No DRM, No Microtransactions
Saber Interactive's recent FAQ clarifies several key points about the game's launch on September 9th. The absence of DRM is a significant announcement, addressing concerns about potential performance impacts often associated with such software. While DRM is frequently used to combat piracy, its effects on gameplay have been a source of contention among gamers.
While ditching DRM, the PC version will utilize Easy Anti-Cheat to maintain fair play. Although Easy Anti-Cheat has faced scrutiny in the past, Saber Interactive is committed to providing a smooth and secure experience.
The developers also confirmed that no official mod support is planned at launch, which might disappoint some players. However, the game boasts a compelling array of features including PvP arena combat, a horde mode, and a comprehensive photo mode to compensate. All core gameplay content will be accessible to all players, with microtransactions limited exclusively to cosmetic items. No paid DLC is planned.
