Tekken director Katsuhiro Harada has sparked rumors of a potential departure from Bandai Namco, where he has spent 30 years crafting the iconic Tekken series. The speculation arose after a Japanese video game news account, Genki_JPN, shared a screenshot from Harada's LinkedIn profile on X (formerly Twitter). In the post, which was updated just an hour ago, Harada announced that he is #OpenToWork and actively seeking new opportunities. He is interested in roles such as Executive Producer, Game Director, Business Development, Vice President, or Marketing positions, all of which must be based in Tokyo.
This announcement has stirred concern among fans, who have flooded the post with comments, tagging Harada for clarification about his future with the Tekken series.
Quick to address the swirling rumors, Harada, known for his active social media presence on X, clarified his intentions. Contrary to speculation, he is not planning to leave Bandai Namco. Instead, Harada expressed a desire to expand his network within the industry. In response to a fan's query on the news post, he stated, "I meet a lot of people on a regular basis (but I don't actually have that many friends in my private world LOL), I just want to meet more people and expand my horizons in the future." He explained that enabling the #OpenToWork option on LinkedIn is a way to facilitate more professional conversations.
With this clarification, Tekken enthusiasts can look forward to the continued evolution of the franchise. Recent collaborations, like the one between Tekken 8 and Final Fantasy 16, which introduced protagonist Clive Rosfield as a fighter along with skins and accessories featuring characters like Jill, Joshua, and Nektar the Moogle, hint at the exciting possibilities that Harada's expanded network could bring to the series.
