The Last Ronin II - Re-Evolution #5, penned by Kevin Eastman and Tom Waltz, with art by Ben Bishop, Isaac Escorza, and Esau Escorza, promises a climactic showdown. IDW's official synopsis teases an all-out war engulfing New York, leaving Casey, April, Odyn, Yi, Moja, and Uno in grave danger. The fate of these characters hangs in the balance.

"We wanted to modernize the characters," Eastman shared with IGN in 2024. "We have two male and two female Turtles, and Tom and I worked to capture the thoughts, speech, and actions of modern teenagers." He continued, "They have distinct personalities, much like the originals. They love their family, but they don't always like each other. They argue, disagree, but their familial bond always unites them. That's the core of everything we do with the Turtles."
