New Star Wars Turn-Based Tactics Game to Be Revealed at Star Wars Celebration 2025

EA's highly anticipated Star Wars turn-based tactics game is set to be unveiled at Star Wars Celebration 2025. This exciting new title, developed by Bit Reactor—a studio formed by veterans from Firaxis Games, renowned for their work on the XCOM series—has been in the works since its announcement in early 2022. Bit Reactor has collaborated closely with Respawn Entertainment, the developers behind the Star Wars Jedi series, to bring this project to life. Fans can look forward to the first glimpse of the game on April 19, during a live panel featuring the lead development team from Bit Reactor, Respawn Entertainment, and Lucasfilm Games, as outlined in the official Star Wars Celebration 2025 schedule.

While details about the game remain scarce, including the specific Star Wars era it will be set in and the precise gameplay mechanics, the involvement of former XCOM developers suggests a strategic, turn-based experience infused with the rich lore of the Star Wars universe. This promises to be a thrilling addition to the Star Wars gaming catalog.

In other Star Wars gaming news, Respawn Entertainment is currently developing the third installment in their Star Wars Jedi trilogy, though it won't be featured at this year's Celebration. Previously, Respawn was also working on another Star Wars project, an untitled first-person shooter rumored to star a Mandalorian protagonist. Unfortunately, this project was canceled amid a significant restructuring at EA, which resulted in the loss of around 670 jobs. Additionally, earlier in March, Respawn quietly canceled a multiplayer first-person shooter incubation project, affecting an unspecified number of staff members.

At Star Wars Celebration, Lucasfilm will also provide a sneak peek at the upcoming movie, "The Mandalorian & Grogu," slated for release in May 2026, and a first look at "Star Wars: Visions Volume 3," adding to the excitement of the event.
