Oscar Isaac's Star Wars Celebration 2025 Appearance Fuels Poe Dameron Return Speculation

Sequel Trilogy star Oscar Isaac's confirmed appearance at Star Wars Celebration 2025 in Tokyo (April 18-20) has ignited fervent speculation about a potential return of his character, Poe Dameron. The announcement, made via the official Star Wars Celebration Instagram, follows Daisy Ridley's 2023 Celebration appearance and subsequent confirmation for a new Star Wars film.

The Sequel Trilogy concluded in 2019 with The Rise of Skywalker, leaving Isaac's feelings about returning to the franchise somewhat ambiguous. While initially expressing reluctance (suggesting a return only if he "needed another house"), he later told Variety he was "open to anything," indicating a shift in perspective.

Isaac's past criticisms of Disney, including their rejection of his proposed romance between Poe and Finn (played by John Boyega), add another layer to the intrigue. Boyega, who also voiced negative experiences with Disney and the franchise, has similarly hinted at openness to future roles.

This renewed speculation centers around the upcoming Rey film, set approximately 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker, focusing on Rey's efforts to rebuild the Jedi Order. Ridley has already expressed her wish for Boyega's return, and the inclusion of Poe, completing the Sequel Trilogy's main trio, seems a logical next step.

While Star Wars Celebration 2025 might offer some answers, fans face a considerable wait. Disney's repeated delays of numerous announced Star Wars projects mean the Rey film, directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, currently has a tentative release date of December 17, 2027, at the earliest.

The possibility of reuniting the three main characters from the Sequel Trilogy remains a significant draw for fans. Only time will tell if this speculation becomes reality.
