"Spider-Man Series on Disney+ Renewed for Seasons 2 and 3"

Fans of the web-slinging hero have reason to celebrate as Disney+'s animated series, "Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man," which follows Peter Parker's first year in high school, has been renewed for both Season 2 and Season 3. This exciting news comes ahead of the Season 1 premiere, set for tomorrow, January 29.

In an interview with The Movie Podcast, Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios' head of streaming, television, and animation, shared that the scripts for Season 2 are already complete, and half of the animated storyboards are finished. Winderbaum expressed his deep affection for the characters and the narrative crafted by lead writer and executive producer Jeff Trammell. "I've fallen so head over heels in love with these characters and I've now read all of the scripts for Season 2; we're halfway through the animatics," he said. "What [Jeff Trammell] is building brick by brick in this show starts to pay off."

Winderbaum emphasized the emotional connection viewers will feel with the characters, noting that the payoff in Season 1 sets the stage for even deeper engagement in the subsequent seasons. "And you feel it in Season 1. You grow connected to these characters so that when everything starts to lock into place and pay off by the end of the season. I feel it in my very soul and it just gets deeper and deeper in subsequent seasons," he added.

Looking ahead, Winderbaum mentioned an upcoming meeting with Trammell to discuss the pitch for Season 3, though he did not provide any details on when fans might expect to see Season 2 or Season 3.

"Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man" chronicles Peter Parker's journey as he navigates his first year of high school while discovering his superpowers. It remains to be seen whether Season 2 will focus on his second year and Season 3 on his third, or if Marvel has other plans to continue exploring the adventures of freshman Spider-Man.
