Created by Patapon creator Hiroyuki Kotani, with music by the original Patapon composer Kemmei Adachi, Ratatan's Kickstarter campaign, launched in 2023, has successfully surpassed its console launch stretch goal, ensuring its release on consoles.
According to the Kickstarter page, the Ratatan closed beta test begins February 27, 2025. Ratatan Producer Kazuto Sakajiri shared updates on the game's progress, revealing over 100,000 Steam wishlists and positive reception to the Ratatan Original Soundtrack Demo. While the game won't be featured in the upcoming Steam Next Fest, the team is prioritizing the closed beta, aiming for a refined demo for the June Steam Next Fest.
Sakajiri outlined the closed beta's scope: initially featuring Stage 1, with Stages 2 and 3 added during the month-long test period. He noted that beta code distribution details, start date, and time will be announced on Discord and X upon confirmation.
Ratatan is slated for release in 2025 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. A specific release date is yet to be announced.
