Announcing Ananta: The Formerly Known as Project Mugen Open-World RPG
Remember Project Mugen, the highly anticipated urban open-world RPG from Naked Rain and NetEase? It's undergone a name change, and is now officially known as Ananta.
First revealed at Gamescom in August 2023, the game has finally unveiled a new trailer after a long period of silence. More information is promised on December 5th, but for now, enjoy the teaser:
The Reason Behind the Name Change?
The developers haven't yet commented on the name change. Interestingly, both "Ananta" (Sanskrit for infinite) and "Mugen" (Japanese for infinite) share the same meaning. The Chinese title also reinforces this concept.
Community Reaction
The name change has been met with mixed reactions, though the overall sentiment is relief that the project hasn't been canceled.
