Jurassic World Rebirth includes a sequence from the original Jurassic Park novel by Michael Crichton that was never featured in the iconic 1993 film adaptation, according to screenwriter David Koepp.
In an interview with Variety, Koepp—who wrote both the original Jurassic Park screenplay and the upcoming Jurassic World Rebirth—explained that he revisited Crichton’s novels while working on the new movie. Since Jurassic World Rebirth doesn’t have a source novel to draw from, returning to the literary roots of the franchise helped him reconnect with the tone and structure of the story.
During this process, Koepp admitted he borrowed elements from the books, including one particular scene from the first novel that had been left out of the original film but finally found its place in Rebirth.
“There was a sequence from the first novel that we’d always wanted in the original movie, but didn’t have room for,” Koepp shared. “We were like, ‘Hey, we get to use that now.’ “
Although Koepp didn’t specify which exact scene made the cut, fans have already begun theorizing about which moment it could be. Several key sequences from the novel stand out as strong candidates, fueling excitement and speculation among Jurassic enthusiasts.
