This guide explores the Paralyze condition in Pokémon TCG Pocket, detailing its mechanics, cures, and optimal deck building strategies. The guide is part of a larger Pokémon TCG Pocket guide.
Pokémon TCG Pocket faithfully recreates the Paralyzed status effect, albeit with slight adjustments. This guide provides a complete overview of this Special Condition, covering its function, countermeasures, and effective deck construction techniques.
The Paralyzed condition immobilizes the opponent's Active Pokémon for a single turn, preventing attacks and retreats. This effect automatically dissipates after the opponent's next Checkup phase, just before your turn begins.
Paralyze and Asleep share similarities, hindering the opponent's Pokémon from attacking or retreating. However, their cures differ. Paralyzed resolves automatically after the next Checkup, while Asleep requires a successful coin toss or specific counter-strategies (like evolution or forced retreat).
Unlike the physical Pokémon TCG, which features Trainer cards like Full Heal to remove Paralysis, Pokémon TCG Pocket currently lacks direct counter-Paralysis cards. The core mechanic, however, remains consistent: a Paralyzed Pokémon is incapacitated for one turn.
Currently, only three Genetic Apex expansion cards inflict Paralysis: Pincurchin, Elektross, and Articuno. Each relies on a coin flip, introducing an element of chance that limits their overall reliability as a core deck strategy.
Four methods exist to cure Paralysis in Pokémon TCG Pocket:
Paralysis alone is insufficient for a competitive deck. Combining it with the Asleep condition proves more effective. A potent strategy involves Articuno & Frosmoth, utilizing their attacks to inflict both Asleep and Paralysis. This synergistic approach enhances the deck's overall effectiveness.
