Pocketpair's Palworld, renowned for its expansive open-world exploration, offers a plethora of mystical items and Pals. The Feybreak DLC significantly expanded this, introducing numerous crafting materials crucial for enhancing player characters and Pal bases. One such elusive material is Dark Fragments. Unlike the more common Paldium, Dark Fragments are essential for crafting high-tier accessories, making their acquisition a priority for Feybreak explorers.
To acquire Dark Fragments, hunt Dark-elemental Pals exclusively found on Feybreak Island. This method is ineffective for Dark-elemental Pals in other game regions. Feybreak's coastal Pals are predominantly ground and water types; venture inland to locate Dark-elemental Pals. Note that some, like Starryon, appear primarily at night (unless boss variants).
Capturing or defeating these Pals (using Ultimate or Exotic Spheres is recommended) yields 1-3 Dark Fragments per encounter. Drops aren't guaranteed, but diligent hunting will yield sufficient quantities.
The following Dark-elemental Pals drop Dark Fragments. Be aware of boss and predator variants inhabiting open areas and dungeons:
While less reliable, single Dark Fragments may randomly appear on Feybreak. Thorough exploration is advised, though frequent combat will deplete ammunition, potentially hindering other objectives like confronting Bjorn, the island's formidable Tower Boss.
Dark Fragments, though challenging to amass, aren't used in a vast array of recipes. They primarily craft specialized saddles, accessories for certain Pals, and enhanced boots (dash and jump) for the player character.
The following items require Dark Fragments. Remember to unlock schematics in the Technology Menu (or Ancient Technology Menu) using Technology Points, and ensure you have the necessary machines and resources.
