Obtaining Filler Metal in NieR: Automata: A Comprehensive Guide
Some upgrade materials in NieR: Automata are notoriously difficult to acquire. While many drop from enemies, others, like Filler Metal, appear randomly in the environment. This introduces an element of chance into farming these resources.
Early in the game, Filler Metal is found within the Factory's depths. However, its spawn location is unpredictable and its drop rate is low. Accessing the Factory: Hanger fast travel point (unlocked after a main story progression) significantly streamlines the search. Note that you may need to unlock this access point again depending on your story progress. While movement speed boosts can help, reliable farming is impossible. The most efficient approach is simply to explore the Factory thoroughly, collecting all naturally spawned items.
Where to Find Filler Metal:
- Factory Depths: Randomly spawns in various locations within the Factory. The Factory: Hanger access point is the recommended starting point.
Where to Buy Filler Metal:
- Amusement Park Shopkeeper Machine: This is the only vendor selling Filler Metal, but only after completing all three playthroughs and obtaining a final ending. Using Chapter Select to revisit the Shopkeeper after completing the game will allow you to purchase Filler Metal for 11,250 G each. This high cost is offset by its reliability compared to farming. Acquiring these upgrades is crucial for facing high-level enemies.
This guide provides both methods for obtaining Filler Metal, allowing players to choose the strategy that best suits their gameplay style and progress.
