NBA 2K25 has launched its first significant update of 2025, paving the way for Season 4's January 10th debut. This Patch 4.0 boasts a range of improvements, including visual enhancements and gameplay adjustments across various game modes.

Key improvements in this update include enhanced player likenesses, court corrections, and stability fixes. Specific fixes address a rare online hang in Play Now Online, leaderboard ranking accuracy, and team-specific visual elements like the Los Angeles Clippers' court logo and sponsor patches on several uniforms. The Emirates NBA Cup court has also been updated for greater realism. Several players and coaches, including Stephen Curry and Joel Embiid, have received updated in-game appearances.

Gameplay Enhancements in Patch 4.0

Patch 4.0 focuses on increased realism and player control. "Light Pressure" shot defense is now categorized into Weak, Moderate, and Strong, providing more nuanced shot feedback. Ball-rim interaction has been refined to reduce overly long rebounds. Defensive mechanics have been tweaked to prevent unfair disruption of skill dunks by trailing defenders, and the Offensive 3 Seconds rule has been added to 1v1 Proving Grounds. Performance and stability improvements have been implemented in City and Pro-Am modes.

• MyCAREER: Progression adjustments ensure accurate badge unlocks and prevent skipped NBA Cup games.
• MyTEAM: Features visual updates to player cards and menus, along with fixes for saving Favorite Plays and challenge progression blockers.
• MyNBA/The W: Stability improvements address issues like NBA Cup simulation problems and league contraction using the "Start Today" feature.

MyCAREER/QUESTS/PROGRESSION:

• Multiple fixes to improve the quest experience and progression.
• Fixed an issue preventing the Maximum Overdrive badge from unlocking.
• Resolved an issue causing skipped dynamically scheduled NBA Cup games during simulation.

MyTEAM:

• Fixed an issue where Breakout games weren't counted.
• Updated Breakout mini-game award icon visuals.
• Fixed an issue preventing saving Favorite Plays.
• Resolved an issue preventing access to instantly regenerated Exchanges.
• Visual improvements to Auction House menus.
• Fixed a progress blocker in Welcome to MyTEAM Challenges.

• Stability fixes and improvements for MyNBA, MyNBA Online, and The W.
• Resolved a progress blocker in MyNBA saves using "Start Today" with scheduled NBA Cup games.
• Fixed a hang when contracting the league to 18 teams.
