Mortal Kombat: Onslaught Shuts Down After Launch

Warner Bros. Games is shutting down its mobile title, Mortal Kombat: Onslaught, less than a year after its launch. The game was removed from the Google Play Store and App Store on July 22nd, 2024. In-app purchases will be disabled on August 23rd, 2024, with servers officially going offline on October 21st, 2024.

The reasons behind the shutdown remain undisclosed, though it follows NetherRealm's recent closure of its mobile games division, which also oversaw Mortal Kombat Mobile and Injustice. This suggests a potential shift in the company's mobile gaming strategy.

The fate of in-game purchases is currently unclear. NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. Games have yet to comment on potential refunds for in-game currency and items, promising further updates soon. Released in October 2023 to commemorate the franchise's 30th anniversary, Mortal Kombat: Onslaught offered a unique take on the series.
