Minecraft Campfire Guide: Extinguishing and Obtaining
This guide covers the versatile Minecraft Campfire, detailing its uses and, importantly, how to extinguish and obtain it. The Campfire, introduced in version 1.14, offers functionalities beyond simple decoration, including mob damage, smoke signaling, cooking, and even bee calming.
Extinguishing a Campfire
Three methods exist for extinguishing a Minecraft Campfire:
- Water Bucket: The simplest method involves using a water bucket to douse the flames. Pour the water onto the Campfire block.
- Splash Water Potion: A more resource-intensive approach utilizes a Splash Water Potion. Throw the potion onto the fire. Note that this requires gunpowder and glass, making it less efficient in the early game.
- Shovel: The least known, yet most readily available, method is using a shovel. Right-click (or use the left trigger on consoles) the Campfire with any shovel, even a wooden one, to extinguish it.
Obtaining a Campfire
Acquiring a Campfire can be achieved through these methods:
- Natural Generation: Campfires naturally spawn in Taiga and Snowy Taiga villages, and within camps in Ancient Cities. Remember, harvesting a pre-placed Campfire requires a tool enchanted with Silk Touch; otherwise, you'll only receive coal (two in Java Edition, four in Bedrock Edition).
- Crafting: A straightforward crafting recipe utilizes sticks, wood, and either charcoal or soul sand. The latter determines whether you create a regular or soul fire Campfire.
- Trading: Apprentice Fishermen will trade Campfires for emeralds (five in Bedrock Edition, two in Java Edition).
