This exciting project comes from a collaboration between Atlus and the renowned manga publisher Shueisha, with the talented Japanese manga artist Yōichi Amano (known for Akaboshi: Ibun Suikoden and Stealth Symphony) bringing the story to life.

The manga takes a creative detour from the video game's original narrative, introducing significant alterations to the opening timeline. Key changes in the first chapter include the omission of a specific initial story area and the introduction of new, game-unseen events. Additionally, it reimagines how the protagonist, now officially named Will, meets his allies, diverging from the game's setup.

Metaphor: ReFantazio marks Atlus' latest intellectual property, crafted by Studio Zero under the guidance of Katsura Hashino, the acclaimed director and producer behind Persona 3, Persona 4, and Persona 5. The game follows Will, the protagonist, alongside his fairy companion Gallica, on a quest to rescue the prince of the United Kingdom of Euchronia from a fatal curse.

Amidst their journey, the king's assassination throws the kingdom into turmoil, leaving it without a leader. In his final moments, the king wishes for the people to choose their next ruler, inadvertently pulling Will into a larger-than-life struggle.

Upon its launch, Metaphor: ReFantazio achieved a remarkable feat by selling over one million copies worldwide on day one, surpassing the sales of Persona 3: Reload, which was released earlier in 2024.
