In the dynamic world of *Monster Hunter Wilds*, raw power isn't always the key to victory. Speed and strategic positioning can turn the tide against even the most formidable monsters. This is where the Dual Blades shine, offering players a unique blend of agility and relentless assault. Here's how to maximize your effectiveness with Dual Blades in *Monster Hunter Wilds*.

Dual Blades in Monster Hunter Wilds

Known for their rapid and perilous nature, Dual Blades are the go-to for hunters who thrive on quick, successive strikes. Mastering their dual modes—standard and Demon—prepares you for any challenge the battlefield throws your way.

Demon Mode/Demon Gauge and Archdemon Mode

The Dual Blades feature a unique gauge mechanic, allowing hunters to enter Demon Mode for enhanced attack, speed, and evasion, as well as knockback immunity. However, this mode drains stamina, ending when stamina is depleted or manually canceled. Successfully landing attacks in Demon Mode fills the Demon Gauge, culminating in Archdemon Mode at full gauge. In Archdemon Mode, the gauge depletes over time and with specific attacks, enabling even more powerful strikes. Both modes can be used in tandem, with the Demon Gauge pausing its decline when you mount a monster, offering strategic advantages.

Demon Dodge

A successful Perfect Evade triggers Demon Dodge, boosting your regular and elemental damage and allowing attacks during dodges. This state grants a 12-second damage buff, with subsequent dodges dealing damage as you spin forward.

Combos

The Dual Blades' combos are intricately linked to Demon and Archdemon Modes, making it essential to master chaining attacks for maximum impact.

Basic Combo

Start with three Triangle/Y attacks to execute Double Slash, Double Slash Return Stroke, and Circle Slash for consistent damage. Alternatively, the Circle/B Demon Flurry Rush – Spinning Slash – Double Roundslash sequence quickly fills your Demon Gauge.

Demon Mode Basic Combo

In Demon Mode, enhance your basic combo with Demon Fangs, Twofold Demon Slash, Sixfold Demon Slash, culminating in Demon Flurry I with Triangle/Y + Circle/B.

Archdemon Mode Blade Dance Combo

Once the Demon Gauge is full, enter Archdemon Mode for a devastating combo. Begin with Blade Dance (Triangle/Y + Circle/B) in Demon Mode, chain four more R2/RT presses for Demon Flurry I into Blade Dance II, and finish with Demon Flurry II and Blade Dance III for swift, massive damage.

Dual Blade Tips

Seamlessly transitioning between Demon and Archdemon Modes is key to maximizing your Dual Blades' potential.

Always Follow Up

Initiate with the Demon Flurry Rush combo (Circle/B + Circle/B + Circle/B) and smoothly transition into a full Demon or Archdemon Mode combo (three sets of Triangle/Y + Circle/B), efficiently converting gauge build-up into rapid damage.

Keep Your Stamina Up

Maintaining high stamina is crucial for prolonged Demon Mode usage. To conserve stamina while still advancing your Demon Gauge, target wounds with Focus Strike, which pauses stamina drain during the attack.

Dodging in Between Attacks

With no reliable defense mechanism, dodging is your primary survival tool. The Dual Blades offer exceptional mobility, allowing you to dodge out of most attacks and combos without locking you in, providing ample opportunities to strike when the time is right.

Ensure Sharpness

The relentless assault of Dual Blades can quickly dull your blades. Utilize the Speed Sharpening skill to minimize downtime and swiftly return to the fray.

Mastering these techniques will elevate your prowess with Dual Blades in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. For more guidance on the game, be sure to explore The Escapist.
